So You Think You Are Funny?
Online Panel Discussion
Being funny is easy. Being funny for a living, on screen, in Aotearoa New Zealand? That's a whole other conversation.
Join four of New Zealand's sharpest comedy writing voices, Alice Snedden, Oscar Kightley, Janaye Henry, and Pax Assadi, for a candid, laugh-punctuated conversation about the craft, the industry, and the audacity required to make comedy your job.
They'll discuss: Is there a distinctly New Zealand sense of humour, and are we actually seeing it on our screens? Is funny enough, or does a comedy screenwriter need something more? And in times like these, when the world feels like it's writing its own dark satire, does humour matter more than ever, or is it just harder to compete?
This is a proper panel discussion, not a stand-up show. Expect honesty, a few strong opinions, and the occasional well-timed joke.
This online panel is part of the NZWG 50th Anniversary event schedule - so come with us as we interrogate our screenwriting industry with those who know it best… the writers.
